Together, we are revitalizing churches and ministries
We're only good at one thing– Evangelism.
Since 1980, the Wheaton College Billy Graham Center has convened leaders, conducted research, and mobilized churches for evangelism. Today the Center includes nine institutes serving diverse church settings.
Sometimes churches drift. It’s possible to build a thriving church calendar without reaching a people who don’t already know Jesus. When our time and resources are consumed by serving those already inside the church, we risk losing sight of the people Christ calls us to reach beyond its walls. We’re here to help.
WE EQUIP
Cohorts
Two-year cohorts through a handful of our 9 Institutes focused on equipping several groups in need and divided between specification.
WE RESEARCH
Research
Studying the gap between pastors and the people they hope to reach, inside and outside the church.
WE GATHER
Gatherings
Focus groups, convenings, and retreats throughout the year, and Amplify, our annual conference in Wheaton.
WE INVEST IN LEADERS
Christian Colleges
Preparing students for a lifetime of faith conversations and leadership in the local church.
A STORY FROM THE FIELD
Roberto Joel Melendez
Roberto shares how the Church Evangelism Institute has transformed his leadership as a lead pastor and helped cultivate an evangelistic culture across two united churches. Seeing this change take root in his congregations, he highlights CEI’s potential to revitalize church and strengthen evangelism across diverse communities.
The Church Evangelism Fund
EVERY CHURCH. EVERY GENERATION.
What happens when a team of researchers sets out to learn why churches aren't reaching new people?
WHAT WE FOUND
10%
Only 10% of churches are growing significantly by adding new believers. Our researchers studied those churches to learn what they do differently.
WHAT WE BUILT
2 y e a r s
That research shaped a two-year cohort journey that takes on the causes of evangelism drift and helps every church grow by reaching new believers.
STILL COUNTING
491pastors
Since 2013, 491 pastors have completed the journey. Each revitalized church sees about ten more first-time faith commitments a year.
Every number tells a story of a church equipped, a leader strengthened, and the gospel reaching further. Together, we’re helping more people know and love Jesus.
YET, THERE IS A GAP.
Those who need it most can afford it least.
The churches who most need revitalizing are the ones where giving is decreasing. Our Church Evangelism Fund provides scholarships for local church pastors to participate.
