Africa 2020 : Correctional Ministry Summit

In March of this year CMCA hosted our first Africa Correctional Ministry Summit in Monrovia, Liberia. Approximately 150 bishops, pastors and other church leaders from across Liberia, Sierra Leone and the Kingdom of Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) attended the Summit. Everyone involved in this Summit was overwhelmed at how powerful and successful this God-inspired event turned out to be. Even as we met to plan the event, it became clear that this was not to be a one-time venture. 

The Africa Summit came about through an invitation from CMCA member John Fefegula, who is a Liberian pastor. Pastor John brought the great need for bishops, pastors and other leaders to receive training in correctional ministry to our attention. He asked that CMCA consider hosting a Summit in his country. Seven CMCA leaders traveled to Liberia to conduct the Summit.

We are planning a 2nd Summit in Liberia, February 20-22, 2020. We anticipate that the 2020 Summit will have a higher attendance than the 2019 Summit. The enthusiasm of the attendees of the 2019 Summit will very likely influence more of their peers to attend. We will reach out to other West African countries. We will also have more time to promote the Summit. We estimate the attendance of the 2020 West Africa Summit to be over 300.

We view this as a move of God in Africa. There are great needs and great opportunities. As we collaborate with Africans, our goal is to equip and empower them to lead future Summits and build coalitions for ongoing ministry. We continue to pray and discuss the direction we believe God is leading us in regarding this opportunity. We are open to work with other ministries in order to participate in this great move of God on the continent of Africa.
